Marilyn U. Schroeder, 84, of Rushville, passed away July 16, 2022 at Millers Merry Manor in Rushville.
Marilyn was born February 15, 1938 to Edward and Louise Meyer Ricke. The family moved to Clarksburg in 1948 and then to Greensburg in 1955. Marilyn graduated from Greensburg High School in 1956. Marilyn enjoyed working at the business office of the Public Telephone Company from 1956-1962. Later in life she worked in the Home Health Care Field and helped with Meals on Wheels.
Marilyn married Justin Schroeder on October 21, 1961 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Greensburg. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2017. They were farmers first in Decatur County and then moved to Rush County in 1968 where they farmed until 2005. Marilyn was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Rushville, was a lay minister for the sick for 25 years, was a past St. Mary School Board member, and past St. Mary Church Fall Festival Chairperson.
She enjoyed taking care of her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were highlights of her life and brought her much delight. Marilyn was a great cook, enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and loved visiting with her many nieces and nephews.
Marilyn is survived by her children Ken (Nancy) Schroeder of Rushville, Andrew (Trista) Schroeder of Evanston, IN; Greg (Tina) Schroeder of Neenah, WI; and Sally (Jerry) Adams of Thomson, GA. Grandchildren Melinda (Nate) Hedrick, Justin (Kelly) Schroeder, Katie Schroeder, Bradley Schroeder, Grayson Schroeder, Ella Schroeder, Jonah Schroeder, and Easton Adams. Great Grandchildren Liam, Alex, Nora Hedrick and Hudson Schroeder.
Also surviving is twin sister Marlene Wolter (Bob-deceased), Sister-In-Laws Annie Ricke, and Linda Ricke. She was preceded in death by her husband Justin and siblings Clifford (Skip) Ricke, Gilbert Ricke, Will Ricke (Dottie), and Anna Mae Ryan (Joe).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday July 20, 2022 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Rushville with Rev. James M. Brockmeier officiating. Burial will follow at Rushville's Calvary Cemetery. Rosary will be said at 10:00 AM Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church with visitation to follow until time of funeral.
