Marilyn Elena Rosa passed away Tuesday, October 11th surrounded by family.
Marilyn was born in Mesquite, Texas on February 7th, 1992 to Sheila and Jorge Ayala. She is survived by her husband, Sergio Rosa; her sister, Sofia Ayala; her father, Jorge Ayala; her mother, Sheila Ayala; her stepmother, Magda Ayala; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rosalia and Robert Baker; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Sefrino Rosa and Chelsey Avila; grandmother, Mary Gnader; god-parents Sonia and Balemar Mendez; her dog, Patches; and countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her son, Lorenzo Atlas Rosa; her grandparents, Lee Gnader Jr. and Elena Fernandez; as well as her great grandparents, Lee Gnader Sr., Frances Gnader and Gertrude Haygood.
Marilyn was raised in Garland and graduated in 2010 from North Garland High School, where she was a cheerleader, played soccer and performed many roles in theater productions.
She began dating Sergio in 2009, when they worked at Spring Creek Barbeque and they were married on November 29, 2014 in Dallas, Texas. Though this is when they celebrated their anniversary, they were legally wed in a small, secret ceremony on August 26, 2014. Sergio had joined the Air Force and they couldn't wait until November in order for Marilyn to go with him to Germany, where he was to be stationed.
While in Germany, Marilyn earned her bachelor's degree and had recently been accepted into a master's program. Marilyn loved her time in Germany, since she loved to travel and it was so easy to explore Europe from there. She set and achieved a goal of visiting 30 countries before her 30th birthday. Of all her travels, some of her favorite places were Hawaii, Iceland, Switzerland, Amsterdam and Norway where she saw the Northern Lights. For work, Marilyn earned a management position at a bank, which was perfect for her as she was also an avid coin collector.
Marilyn was a ray of sunshine, bringing warmth, kindness and generosity to everyone she met. She had an amazing smile, infectious laughter, and a voice that could carry over three football fields. Marilyn was very outgoing and social. Any time she spent laughing with friends, she was happy. She was honest, fearless, so fun and silly with a fiery attitude to match. She also absolutely loved holidays, her favorites being Christmas, Thanksgiving and Halloween.
Marilyn Elena Rosa was so beloved by everyone who knew her and will be sorely missed by all.
