Marilyn Ann Ketterer, age 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning July 9, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Marilyn was born on July 25, 1939, in Boscobel, WI; the daughter of Dwight and Velma (Gilbertson) Kreul. Although she was an only child, Marilyn was always surrounded by her family, including 22 first cousins. She married Jerry Ketterer on August 31, 1957, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Fennimore. They were married 57 wonderful years before his passing.
Marilyn and Jerry made their living while raising their family on the farm. Marilyn was an exceptional cook, who also enjoyed working in the garden, canning lots of tomatoes, and always helping with whatever farm chores needed to be done. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church her entire life and was an integral member of the Sew 'n Sew quilting group. She oversaw coordination of funeral lunches for many years, and she baked the church's communion bread, right up to her death.
Marilyn is survived by her three children: Jeff (Michelle) Ketterer of Dubuque, IA, Doug Ketterer of Fennimore, and Lori (Tom) Needham of Fennimore; three grandchildren: Alexi, Brett, and Cole Needham; six step grandchildren: Matthew, Krystal, Tiffany, Brooke, Dallas, and Nathan; sister in-laws, Rita Ketterer of Fennimore and Kathy (Tim) Tiffany of Waunakee; six nieces; and one nephew. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jerry on July 3, 2014; and brother in-laws, Jim Smith and Richard "Dick" Ketterer.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Fennimore, WI. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be held in the church hall. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date in the Ideal Cemetery in Fennimore Township Grant Co., WI. The Larson Family Funeral Home of Fennimore is assisting the family.
