Marie Spradley Davis, 89, passed away peacefully at The Retreat Senior Living Home in Conyers on Saturday, March 29th. She was born on May 29th, 1935, in Pinehurst, Georgia. Marie and her three siblings grew up at the Baptist Children's Home in Hapeville, Georgia. Marie married Lee Davis on August 7, 1953, shortly after she graduated from Hapeville High School.
Lee enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1951, and served his country there for 25 years from 1951 to 1976. After his time in the Coast Guard, Lee and Marie settled in Conyers, where Marie was a long-time employee of the C&S Bank of Rockdale Trust Company, which later became SunTrust Bank, where she retired. Lee and Marie retired in 2003, and relocated to Panama City Beach, Florida.
A loving wife and a woman of deep faith and devotion, Marie joyously served her Lord in many capacities over the course of her life. She was an active member of Rockdale Baptist Church in Conyers, and later, St. Andrews Baptist Church in Panama City, Florida.
Marie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lee, and is survived by their three children, Donna Marie Davis (David C. Davis), Karen Davis Carter (Michael D. Carter), and Leland Terrell Davis, Jr. (Sheryl Cato Davis). Marie will forever be 'Granny' to her twelve grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Marie's name to M4 Institute at http://m4institute.org/donate-give/. M4 Institute's mission is to share the love and compassion of Jesus Christ to enhance the lives of the needy and alleviate poverty around the world.
