Marie Hunsucker Gorupic entered her eternal home with her Heavenly Father on May 9,th 2023. Born March 7th, 1948, in Conover, NC to Dorothy Hunsucker Sanders and Robert Lee Hunsucker, Marie lived her life in the Hickory area. She made a living as a cosmetologist and beauty salon owner. Marie had a way of not only making people feel beautiful on the outside, but on the inside too.
As a child, Marie was a mischievous yet loving little girl and as she grew her fun loving yet compassionate ways gained her countless friends. If there ever was a life of the party, it was Marie! She always kept her friends and family laughing hysterically with her dinner stories. They usually ended in her barely able to finish the story from laughing so hard.
Marie enjoyed traveling to various places throughout the world with her husband, Drago. She made friends with people from all walks of life and wherever she went. People were drawn to her bright eyes, dimpled smile, and quick wit.
However, her main source of joy in her life was her grandson, Alex Cole. The latter part of her life was spent raising Alex whom she considered not only her Son, in every sense of the word, but her gift from God. And she was his "Mama". She always told him that they were "Movie Stars."
Marie was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Hunsucker Sanders and father, Robert Lee Hunsucker. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of over 22 years, Drago Gorupic; daughter, Erica Leigh Dagenhart, grandson Alex Cole Gorupic; sister, Linda Spencer; nephews: Shawn Spencer and Shane Spencer; niece, Leah Penninger (William) and grand-niece, Elli Penninger and her countless friends.
A celebration of life will be at St. Alban's Episcopal Church on Saturday, June 24th at 1pm with a reception to follow at the church.
