Marie started at the Mayo Clinic in 1965 as an ECG Technician eventually working with Exercise Testing in the Division of Cardiology's Heart Station. Marie was an avid reader, Naturalist and a life long lover of dogs. She was a founding member of the Rochester Dog Obedience Club. She taught Puppy Pre-School in the Community Education Program. She and her dogs were featured in many Ed Fisher's Post Bulletin cartoons as well as articles featuring her and her dog training skills. Most of her adult life she was surrounded by Corgis. In 1982, this love led her to meet fellow Corgi lover, children's author, and illustrator, Tasha Tudor in Vermont. International Professional dog trainers and authors, Carol Lea Benjamin and Job Michael Evans, considered her a friend and mentor, mentioning her in their books.
In 1957 she and longtime friend June Goodrich homesteaded land for a hobby farm east of Rochester. After June's passing in 2012, Marie continued to live on the farm with her Corgi, Lena, until she moved to St. Charles in the fall of 2017. Marie would like to "thank all that helped me down my path".
