MARIE ELIZABETH MANETTA passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at her home. She was 97 years old. It was Marie's wish that this announcement be placed in the Buffalo News in order to reach family and friends that could not be notified prior to the funeral.
Born in Buffalo, NY, to John and Phyllis (nee Cordovano) Denaro, Marie spent her youth and teenage years in Buffalo during the difficult days of the Great Depression and World War II. She fondly remembered growing up with a large extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She married Cesare Manetta in 1947 and shortly after the birth of their first child, they moved to nearby Kenmore NY. They lived in Kenmore until 1965 and during that time their second child was born. The family then moved to East Brunswick, New Jersey, where Marie would live for the next 52 years. The family continued to grow and their third child was born in New Jersey. Cesare passed away in 1992, but Marie stayed in her East Brunswick home until 2017. She then relocated to Bristol Glen Assisted Living in Newton, where she received loving, compassionate care. After every move, she established new and lasting friendships, but always maintained strong family ties and never forgot the friends who were such an important part of her earlier life in Buffalo and Kenmore.
Marie was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Cesare, her brother, Dominic Denaro and his wife, Barbara, her brother, Charles Denaro and his wife, Pat, and her daughter-in-law, Karen Manetta.
Surviving are her children, Bob of East Brunswick, Beverly and her husband, Dennis, of Mansfield, and Michael and his wife, Sharlee, of Mesa Az. She was intensely proud of her grandchildren, Brian and his wife, Megan, Lisa and her husband, Joseph, Bobby, Keenan, Seth and his partner, Rebecca, Mason and Madox. They all received their grandmother's unconditional love and approval. Her three great-grandchildren, Madison, Cecilia and Stella always brought a special sparkle to her eyes and she started each day by reviewing their photos on her iPad. Also surviving are her beloved nieces and nephews and their families. She will certainly be missed by all.
