Marian R. Wheeler, 89, longtime resident of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022 at the Views of Marion. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9th, 2022 at Marion Methodist Church in Marion. A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at a later date at Center Friends Cemetery in Newton, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family. Marian was born on June 14, 1933, in Newton, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Rufinia (Cook) Baldwin. She graduated from Newton High School. On August 24, 1952, Marian was united in marriage to Ronald L. Wheeler in Newton, Iowa. She taught at Jack & Jill Preschool as a teacher for 16 years. Marian then worked 5 years at Rockwell Collins in Purchasing. She was a member of Marion Methodist Church. Marian enjoyed time with her family, gardening, crocheting and spending winters in Texas and Arizona. Marian is survived by her children Pam (Bruce) Proctor of Marion, Barb (Boyd) Potter of Marion, Mike (Noelle) Wheeler of Dallas, Texas and a special daughter, Lidia Tokuda of Lima, Peru. Marian and Ron had 10 grandchildren, Jason (Heather) Potter, Kyle (Jamie Cohen) Proctor, Matt (Natalie) Proctor, Charlie (Stefanie) Potter, Bart Wheeler, Josh (Meredith) Wheeler, Rebecca (Sam) Wheeler, Stacy (Shawn) Vaughan, William Wheeler, Jacqueline Wheeler, 18 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great Great Grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Ron Wheeler; 3 siblings, Lois McConeghey, Roger Baldwin, and Betty Ratcliff; one nephew, Gary Ratcliff and daughter-in-law, Nicole Proctor. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Staff at the Views of Marion and all those who became a second family during her time there. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marian’s memory may be made to Marion Methodist Church or to the Churches of Marion Food Pantry.
