Marian Louise Steiner, 88 of St.Ignace passed away peacefully Friday, September 27 at Evergreen Living Center surrounded by her children. She was born July 8,1931 in Petoskey to Harold and Agnes (Koboski) Lewis.Marian attended St.Francis Xavier School and graduated from Petoskey HIgh School in 1949. She married Lloyd Steiner in 1950 in Petoskey where they lived until moving to the Upper Peninsula in 1959 and ST.Ignace in 1961. Lloyd passed away January 29,2019.
Marian worked at the Red Owl STore,a and worked for Dr. Howard Hague for 17 years and the Mackinac Straits Hosiptal before retiring. Marian loved baking and cooking, She loved trying new recipes. Her cookie jars were always filled, and she knew every grandchild and great grandchilld's favorite kind of cookie. She always enjoyed reading and daily crossword puzzle.
Marian was a member of St.Ignatius Loyola Catholic CHurch and St.Annes Altar Society..
She is survived by her five children. Jeanette(Fred)O'Rourke, Wayne and Karen Steiner,Janice (Paul Neelis) Steiner, Dean and Laurie Steiner and Glen Steiner, all of ST.Ignace;12 grandchildren and 17 great grandcihildren. Sisters Ruth Lewis in Wisconsin; Jane and Phil Goethals of Kalkaska, and sister in law, Lucille STeiner of Fairmont, MN,
Visitation will be Friday, October 4 from 11 until noon at ST.Ignatius Church in ST.Ignace with Mass of C hristian Burial at noon. with Fr. Frank Ricca officiating. Burial will be at St.Ignatuis Cemetery beside her husband..
Memorials may be directed to St. Annes Altar Society or the Prayer Garden with envelopes avaiable from Dodson Funeral Home and Cremation Center who assisted with arrangements.
