Maria Rodriguez Spanfelner Our Lord and Savior called home Maria Spanfelner on May 23, 2022. She was 84. Maria is survived by her husband, Fred Spanfelner, her daughters (Pamela Schmidt, Brenda Passmore, Michelle Abers, and Christine Spanfelner), grandchildren (Victoria, Gabrielle, Grace, Garrison, and Tyler), her beloved family in Costa Rica, and dear and cherished friends. When Maria was born in San Jose, Costa Rica in 1937, her mother gave her the middle name "de los Ángeles" – of the angels. And that she was. Maria spent her youth caring for her five younger siblings and helping support her parents in their bakery. When the time came, she made the courageous journey to fulfill her dreams of living in the United States. Maria learned English watching "I Love Lucy" and singing songs to her daughters such as "This Little Light of Mine." Maria truly was an angel on earth, sharing her warmth, compassion, and kindness with all of us. She became adored by her community and indiscriminately shared her generous heart with each person she brushed past. No matter how brief a time, her light touched everyone she met. You just wanted to be next to her.Sweet Maria, our mama, our prayer warrior, you led us this far. We will carry your light in our hearts forever, knowing peace abound when the Lord opened his arms and said "Hallelujah, you're home."Please join us for a Celebration of Life for Maria at the Calvary Chapel Red Bluff on Sunday, June 26, at 2:00 P.M. Calvary Chapel Red Bluff is located at 12375 Paskenta Road, Red Bluff CA 96080. A reception will follow. Please feel free to wear any color attire.
