our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away in her home on March 24, 2022.
Maria was the epitome of resilience and grace and was always there for her family. We will miss her and always hold the loving memories she gave us close to our hearts.
Maria was born November 03, 1928.
She met her future husband after he returned from serving in the U.S. Army in World War II. They raised 10 children together near the Brownsville Fire Department Station 2 where Felipe worked as a fireman. She and Felipe moved to Los Fresnos after his retirement where they continued to hold family cookouts and parties.
Usually the center of family gatherings, Maria loved spending time with her children and numerous grandchildren every weekend. Besides these family gatherings, she loved hosting cookouts, going to dances, listening to classic songs, country music, Freddy Gonzalez, and especially Miguel Sagrado's "Cruz de Madero."
Maria was known for her green thumb and collection of Asian cultural ornaments, trinkets, and antique furniture. She devoted much of her time and energy to her family.
Maria is survived by her daughters, Maria Ester Godinez (Esteban), Beatrice Hernandez (Albert RIP), Amada Rodriguez (Rogelio RIP), Alma Gloria Vega (Noe); sons Juan Miguel Ramos (Griselda), Carlos Ramos, and Jorge Ramos; 31 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
