Maria van Leliveld, 85, of Williamsburg, reunited with her late husband, Hank, on his 88th heavenly birthday, Saturday, July 2, 2022. Maria lived to the fullest through simple pleasures life has to offer which included chatting with family near and far, completing large scenic puzzles, and spending time with her sons and family. Born May 17, 1937 in Dordrecht, Netherlands, Maria was introduced to Hank through a mutual friend and their love story began. She and Hank moved to the United States in 1957 to raise their blooming family. Maria is survived by her five sons and families, Jack (Stacy), Corey (Harriette), Teddy (Sandy), Rene, and Jeffery (Laura); grandchildren, Lindsey (Burt), Kassie, Cody (Melinda), Carrie, Cole, and Brayden. Maria also has two great-grandchildren, Emilee and William. In her beloved home country, she is survived by her sister Helmi (Hans) of Dordrecht and niece Natasja (Henk) and their children Ziva and Rhett of Muiden. She was preceded in death by her husband Hendrik "Hank", grandson Kees, and parents Cornelis and Wilhelmina. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 8 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 11 at 1:00 PM at the Williamsburg United Methodist Church, 500 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Respite Care Program at Williamsburg United Methodist Church or At Home Care & Hospice, 287 McLaws Circle, Suite 1, Williamsburg, VA 23185.
