Marguerite Ann Hapeman Graham was born in Ft. Worth, Texas to Mary Florene and Jack Huntoon Hapeman on August 29, 1925. She grew up in Decatur, Texas where she lived near her grandparents, mayor Terrell Lillard and Marguerite Huntoon Lillard. She later moved to Dallas with her parents and brother, Jack Huntoon Hapeman, Jr. and graduated from Sunset High School in 1943. She attended Texas State College for Women and married Air Corps pilot Robert Earl Pettigrew in 1944. Robert was killed during combat training flight maneuvers in January 1945 and their son Robert Earl Pettigrew Jr. was born later the same year. In 1948 Marguerite married Barney A. Graham, Jr. Barney adopted Robert and they had two more children, Stephen and Lisa. Marguerite spent her life as a homemaker. She was brilliant. She had the mind of an engineer and could rebuild, rewire, and restore almost anything. She restored furniture and art for several antique dealers in Dallas. She taught herself how to sew, upholster furniture, and drew plans for several of the family homes she and her husband Barney built. She was a skilled bridge player. She had a great sense of adventure and traveled all over Europe, Asia and the Middle East with her daughter Lisa and aunt Helen. Marguerite deeply loved the Lord Jesus and loved to read the Bible. She spent many years as a class member of Bible Study Fellowship and served as a volunteer in the children's program. She was tested in her faith especially in the losses of two husbands and the death of her son Robert from diabetes on October 8, 1975. But despite many hardships she said "I've had a great life. I didn't like some of it, but still it was a great life. The Lord has always taken care of me." Marguerite Ann Hapeman Graham, age 95, passed away peacefully October 8, 2020 from natural causes, with her children at her side. It was exactly 45 years to the day after the death of her eldest son Robert. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Ann Graham Neary {George), son Steve Graham (Susan), daughter-in-law Lou Graham Daulton, grandchildren Barney A. Graham Ill (Jessica), Elizabeth Graham Phillips (Stephen), Jeff Graham, Marianne Graham, Kate Neary, and Ashley Neary Martens (Galen), aunt Helen Lillard Longley (Edward), 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
