It is with heavy hearts that the family of Margaret "Marge" Elizabeth Hamilton Wojtkowski, better known by her family as Queen, announce her passing on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Novant Health, surrounded by her children. She joined her husband of 68 years, John Michael, in their eternal resting place in Heaven on what would have been his 90th birthday.
Marge was born in Hartford, CT on October 20, 1934, to the late Daniel C. and Margaret E. (Guinan) Hamilton and attended Pittsfield, MA schools. With her love for family, Marge had eight children and stayed at home to raise them. As her youngest began school, she returned to the workforce to ensure that her children had the financial resources to attend college. She worked 20 years at Martin Marietta in Pittsfield, MA as a Classified Documents Controller until her retirement in 1994. After retiring, she relocated to Mooresville, NC.
Her greatest legacy and joy is the family which she leaves behind. She spent countless, memorable hours with them sewing, crafting, painting, shopping, and playing games. Many of these activities resulted in personalized gifts for family and friends. She also often accompanied her children's families on various vacations around the world which included Canada, England, Mexico, the Caribbean, and various parts of the U.S. As a communicant of St. Therese Church, she was a member of both Crafty Ladies and SWAT which led to lasting friendships.
Marge is survived by her sister Sheila (Paul) Milette and seven of her children, Pamela A. Coty of Keene, NH; John M. Jr. (Jin) of Indianapolis, IN; Daniel J. of North Port, FL; Mary E. (Steven) Robinson of N. Andover, MA; Kathleen M. Hart of Mooresville; Susan J. (Timothy) Smith of Concord; and Shaun T. (Debra) of Newport News, VA. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John M.; her daughter Denise J. and her husband Peter Podavini; sons-in-law Andrew E. Coty and Richard H. Hart; and her brothers Daniel and Robert. She so loved her family and always tried to bring them joy.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, September 27 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home & Crematory, 494 E Plaza Drive, in Mooresville, NC.
