Margaret Link Grosse (Peggy), age 88, of Western Springs; beloved wife of Edward Grosse for 67 years; loving mother of Scott (Debby) Grosse, Sara (Dan) Ureel, and Laura (Jim) Parrish; proud Mimi of Britton (Mark) Fossett, Jamie (Lindsay) Grosse, Scott Ureel, Molly (Joe) Ronovsky, Will Ureel (Katherine Lachner, fianc?e), Jimbo, Sawyer, and Baylor Parrish; adoring great grandmother of Ella and Charlie Fossett, Natalie, CC, Laura and Mary Grosse, and Payton, Will and Charlie Ronovsky. Dear sister of the late Janet Smith, the late Virginia Bradbury and Martha Stattin.
Peggy inspired those around her with a love of reading and learning. Nowhere was this more evident than at her beloved cabin on Long Lake, where the family gathered nightly to watch Jeopardy, and she was always the quiet champion. Peggy graduated from Lyons Township High School and continued her education at Lawrence University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. She was also the president of her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta while at Lawrence.
Peggy was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Western Springs where she was the devoted assistant to the senior minister, the late Dr. Robert Kemper for 20+ years. The church provided years of enjoyment within the Women's Society, Questers, the handbell choir and the wedding committee. Her love of Western Springs inspired her to volunteer for many committees, including the Board of Education, the Historical Society, the Architectural and Appearance Committee and of course, her many years as a Girl Scout leader.
Peggy took a sincere interest in all those she encountered, she was a true friend to all and will be dearly missed. A celebration of her life will be held at the First Congregational Church of Western Springs, IL on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 11:00am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name to The Eleanor Ellis Public Library, 4495 Town Hall Road, Phelps, Wisconsin 54554 are appreciated.
