Margaret Joyce Wagers Musselman passed away on April 16, 2024. Joyce was born in Houston, Texas, on January 23, 1929, to George Clements Wagers and Lois Madeley Wagers. She graduated from Conroe High School in 1946. Joyce received an associate's degree in music from Stephens College and a bachelor's degree from Southern Methodist University. Joyce and her first husband, Floyd Emerson Love, had two children, Dan Wilson Love and Mary Margaret Love. Joyce and her second husband, Glenn Musselman II, enjoyed many happy years together. Joyce began her professional career as a Juvenile Probation Officer for Harris County, where Glenn was an Adult Probation Officer. Joyce taught 6th grade reading and English for several years in Conroe schools. She later served as a social worker for Tri-County Mental Health and worked for Montgomery County Adult Probation. Joyce was actively involved in the lives of her grandchildren Anne-Marie and Will. In later years, she welcomed the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Emmett and Perry, who brought her great joy. Joyce was a faithful Christian and a member of First Baptist Church of Conroe. She served her Lord in many ways throughout her life, including working in the church library, reading to young students at First Baptist Academy, and participating in the greeting ministry. Joyce enjoyed traveling, hosting and attending social events, and playing bridge regularly with friends. Joyce, together with Glenn, was a patron of the arts, providing support to the Friends of the Conroe Symphony, Young Texas Artists, and the Montgomery County Performing Arts Society. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Joyce will be remembered by her friends and family for her genuine warmth, generosity, and congeniality. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn Emmett Musselman II; and daughter, Mary Margaret Love Thompson. She is survived by her son Dan Love and wife Robbie of Willis, Texas; granddaughter Anne-Marie Friedman and husband Nick of Syracuse, NY; grandson William B. Thompson III and wife Chelsea of Hitchcock, Texas; great-grandson Emmett Friedman of Syracuse, NY; great-granddaughter Perry Love Thompson of Hitchcock, TX; and son-in-law William B. Thompson, Jr. of Conroe. The family wishes to thank Jeff Russell for his caring pastoral ministry to Joyce during her illness.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 20 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Conroe, 600 N. Main, Conroe, Texas officiated by Dr. Jeff Berger and Dr. Charles Walton. The visitation will be held at the church at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Graveside service will follow at Garden Park Cemetery, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, Texas.
