MARGARET MILLER "MONNIE" PITTS, 91, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, February 4, 2024 in Aiken Regional Medical Centers surrounded by her loving family.
A native of Mountville, SC, Monnie was a daughter of the late Jim Wade and Eva Hollis Miller. She grew up attending Mountville Baptist Church and graduated from Mountville High School.
Mrs. Pitts resided in Aiken most of her adult life and was an active member of St. John's United Methodist Church for 65 years. She taught 3rd grade Sunday School for 17 years, and was a member of Asbury Sunday School Class, Circle No. 3, UMW and Shepard of Love. She and received recognition as United Methodist Women member of the year.
Monnie dedicated over thirty years of voluntary service as an ARMC Hospital Auxiliary Patient Representative. Her contribution amounted to over 4500 volunteer hours and earned her the distinction of Life Membership.
She was a longtime member of P.E.O., Chapter B and always enjoyed hosting her sisters.
Renowned for her unwavering kindness and compassion, Monnie was cherished by many as a dear friend. Every encounter with her was met with a kind word that emanated warmth and generosity. Her radiant smile illuminated every room she entered, uplifting all those around her.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 69 years, Pascal Mark Pitts III; their children, Pascal Mark Pitts IV (Nancy), James Wade Pitts (Anne), Michael Kirk Pitts (Cathy); grandchildren, Mark Alexander Pitts (Lindsey). James Wade Pitts, Jr. (Katie), Holley Pitts Arnold (Bob), John Allen Pitts, Mark David Pitts (Keeley); great-grandchildren, Eliza, Drew and Maggie Pitts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Joan Miller McCarter and her brother, Jim Wade Miller, Jr.
A memorial service will be held Friday afternoon, February 9th at 2 o'clock at St. John's United Methodist Church with The Revs. Dr. W. Timothy McClendon and Grayson "Butch" Blackwell officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Asbury Sunday School Class. A reception will immediately follow in Ward Hall.
