Margaret E. (Kordek) Grabeck, 85, longtime resident of Plainville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Apple Rehab of Farmington Valley. She was the loving wife of Bernard Grabeck and together they shared 61 years of marriage.
Margaret was born at home in New Britain, CT on November 17, 1936 daughter to the late Bill and Jean T. (Prachniak) Kordek. She attended Goodwin Technical School where she focused her studies on the art of sewing. Margaret was a very talented seamstress, creating many beautiful pieces of clothing that she shared with her loved ones. She mastered needlepoint stitch and in her free time would spend hours crafting. She worked at Lord and Taylor for 6 years, where she enjoyed using her artistic skills as a profession. Margaret was a devout Catholic and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Church, the church she and Bernard were married in. She loved listening to music, especially her favorite artist, Elvis, and was a lover of cats. The matriarch of her family, Margaret will be missed but her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace.
In addition to her husband, Bernard, Margaret is survived by her children, James Grabeck, Maria Grabeck, and Elizabeth Grabeck; her brother, Carl Kordek and his wife, Kathleen; her sisters, Sandra Hayes and Anita Kordek; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 26 from 9 to 10 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 94 Broad St., Plainville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Plainville. Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St., Plainville has been entrusted with care.
