Margaret Ann "Peggy" Coppola passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, and UF Health Shands, in Gainesville, FL, of heart disease. Peggy was born in Jamaica, NY as a Christmas baby, December 25, 1944. Peggy was a member of the religious community of The Daughters of Wisdom located in Litchfield, CT. Peggy was a true caregiving nurse, graduating from Saint Louis University with a BSN degree, first working in Houston, TX, before moving to Stamford, CT where she worked many years at St. Joseph's Hospital, later at Stamford Hospital and finally teaching at Fairfield University. Peggy was awarded the distinguished Nightingale Award for her Excellent in Nursing. Peggy was a voracious reader, and loved to play cards, bowl and travel to Vermont.
Peggy (and Glenn) permanently retired to The Villages, FL in 2014.
Peggy is survived by her husband Glenn, two sisters, Mary Maher of Stamford, CT, and Christine DeLany of Houston, TX, and four nephews and nieces. Peggy was predeceased by her parents, Antoinette and Edward Maher, her beloved and cherished son, Timothy, her sister Patricia Ozcomert, and a nephew.
A graveside service will occur sometime in May at the Long Ridge Union Cemetery in Stamford, CT.
