Margaret Blacker, long-time Everett resident, died February 23, 2025. She was 99. She was born in Springdale, Pennsylvania, the third of five children, to Ernest and Margaret Laurin. The family moved to Everett in 1930, owning and operating "Ernie's Place", a grocery store/gas station on Highway 99 (currently the site of O'Reilly's Autoparts), functioning also as a Snohomish County Polling Place for many years. Margaret met Chuck Blacker in 1942, whom she married in 1944, beginning 63 years of happy marriage. Hundreds of letters passed between them while Chuck was in the Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater during WWII. After raising 4 children, she and Chuck traveled extensively, seeing all 50 states and much more on their many cruises. She was strong in her faith, enjoyed church activities and volunteered at Providence Hospital for more than 40 years. Chuck proceeded her in death in 2007. She will be sadly missed. She is survived by her son, David (Joan) Blacker, daughters Kay (Norm) Alstad, Marni Dilgard, Barbara (Dennis) Koger and her many grandchildren, great and great-great children. The family would like to thank the staff of The Terrace at Beverly Lake Memory Care facility for many years of kindness and care. A memorial service for Margaret will be held at 11AM Monday, March 3rd at Faith Lutheran Church, 6708 Cady Rd, Everett. In lieu of flowers a donation could be made to Faith Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
