Funeraria Del Angel Mont Meta
Marcos Trevino Benavides, 83, of Harlingen, Texas joined the warm embrace of our Lord on December 26th, 2022.
Marcos was the youngest of seven children born to Atilano and Beatrice Benavides in Los Fresnos Texas. His sisters Delfina, Edelmira, Guadalupe, Anita, Olivia and brother Roberto, all preceded Marcos in passing.
Husband to Bertha (Nee Villanueva) father of Tobias Benavides and Clarissa Downey the beloved grandfather to Robert, Heather and Gryphon as well as great grandchildren Hailey, Holly and Harley.
He will also be lovingly remembered by Shari, Trenton and Dana along with countless nieces and nephews and their respective families.
Throughout his life, Marcos only lived outside Rio Grande Valley twice; briefly living in Houston following his marriage in 1961 then much later in Tyler for a few years before returning to Harlingen in 2008.
He spent his entire career in and around meat production. From an entry level position, Marcos worked up to production supervisor at Gorges Foods in Harlingen and ultimately at John Soules Food in Tyler.
Nothing pleased Marcos more than an excuse to bring family together. Whether to watch just about any sporting event or to enjoy some barbeque. As an avid student of the Bible, Marcos was as eager to discuss the scriptures, as he was to talk about the Cowboys. He was a lifelong, dyed-in-the-wool, Dallas Cowboys fan. Regardless of "Americas Team's" performance, he always looked forward to the "next season."
Visitation for Marcos will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Mont Meta. Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Mont Meta with burial to follow at 2:00 PM at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
