Marcia Adella Hook Perkins passed away Saturday, June 22, 2019, at the age of 91 in Highlands, NC where she had lived for almost 40 years. She was able to continue to be in her home with failing health due to the devotion of her son Dennis and two daughters, Angie and Christine as well as several loving caregivers.
Marcia was born on December 22, 1927 to Caroline (Richards) and Edgar Hook on the family farm in Chelsea, VT. She was one of nine children, six brothers and two sisters. She is survived by June Beck of Scaly Mountain, NC and Leslie Hook of Randolph, VT. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Warren, Stanley, Edgar, Clarence, James and one sister Ellen Harington.
Marcia graduated from Chelsea High School in Chelsea, VT as class Valedictorian, and she loved to tell stories about walking to school many miles in all kinds of weather. She was married to Carl Perkins in 1946 and they later divorced. She leaves ten children, Roger (wife Kippy) Perkins of Thetford, VT, Gloria (husband Roland) Potwin of South Royalton, VT, Beverly (husband Duane) Wheeler of Sharon, VT, Marcia Rogers of South Royalton, VT, Edgar Perkins of Chelsea, VT, Judy Pederson of Claremont, NH, Dennis Perkins of Highlands, NC Angie Manley and her partner Jerry Frady of Franklin, NC Tim Perkins of East Topsham, VT, Christine Perkins of Highlands, NC; one son, Carl Perkins of Groton, VT preceded her in death. She also had two stepchildren, Anthony Perkins of Sharon and Marilyn McIntier Hosmer of Topsham, VT. In her later years, she met the love of her life, James Wyatt of Franklin, NC and they spent six wonderful years together until his death in 2016. James thought the world of Marica's large family. She had 32 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; several step grandchildren as well as many other family members. Marcia always had a hug for family and friends alike and she never met a stranger. She had a great love for the outdoors and all living things, and she enjoyed watching the birds. She walked many miles in the hills of Vermont and the mountains near her home in NC, accompanied by her faithful dogs. She had a great love for the Lord and a strong faith in God.
A Celebration of Marcia's life will be held at a later date.
