Mary Marcia (Moran) Fleming,
77, previously of Charlottesville, VA, passed away January 12, 2021 in Fishers, Indiana. Marcia, as she was known to friends and family, was born in Andover, New York on June 22, 1943. The family later relocated to Erie, Pennsylvania where Marcia grew up with her parents, Mary and Emmett Moran (both deceased) and two siblings, Margaret Anne (deceased) and Paul.
After high school, Marcia moved to Washington, D.C. and later Falls Church, Virginia where she began a 35-year career with the Central Intelligence Agency. Through her position with the CIA, Marcia was able to fulfill her dream of traveling the world, meeting new people, and experiencing new cultures. She spent several years living and working in Geneva, Switzerland and Ottawa, Canada.
Upon her retirement from the CIA, Marcia moved to Charlottesville, Virginia where she lived and worked for over 20 years. She loved her new hometown working/participating with the New Comers Club, First Night Virginia, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), and many others. In 2017, Marcia relocated to Fishers, Indiana to be near family.
Marcia was known as pleasantly grumpy, fiercely independent, and was protective of her friends and family. She was an avid reader, super fan of crossword puzzles (thought New York Times was too easy) and was always taking on new challenges.
Marcia is survived by her children, Shannon (husband, Joseph) and Mark (wife, Scarlet); grandchildren, Amanda, Connor, Blake and Liam; and brother, Paul Moran (wife, Patricia). There will be no public service.
