Mamie Catherine Butts, of Middletown, MD passed from this life on August 8, 2024, at Autumn Lakes Healthcare, Braddock Heights. She was the wife of Robert I. Butts who passed on May 23, 2006. They were married on January 1, 1947. Born on December 15, 1930, at McKaig, Maryland, Mamie was the daughter of the late Ralph W. and Lillian Barrick Riggs, Sr.
For 25 years, she worked for American Optical before retiring. Mamie was a member of the ladies Auxiliary of Middletown Volunteer Fire Company and a member of the Locust Valley Bible Church. She loved to cook and take care of her violets.
Mamie is survived by her caregiver and niece, Debbie Crummitt and her husband Kieffer, brothers Charles Riggs and wife Pat, and Richard Riggs and wife Betty, as well as nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and brothers Ralph W. Riggs, Jr. and wife Bety, Glenn Paul Riggs and wife Mary, John Riggs and wife Carolyn and sisters Clara Flook and husband Mehrle, Mary Mason and husband Willard.
Services and interment were held in Locust Valley Bible Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the MVFC Ladies Auxiliary or to Locust Valley Bible Church would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements by Thompson Harman Funeral Home, Middletown.
