Malcolm, "Mal" "Buddy" Hession passed away June 23, 2021 after a 7-year struggle with heart and kidney failure surrounded by his loving family at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH.
He was born June 20, 1945 to Malcolm P and Lillian (Archibald) Hession in Boston, MA. He grew up in Mattapan attended Saint Raphael's in Hyde Park for elementary school and graduated from Boston Technical High School. He attended classes at Mass Bay Community College.
On July 29th, 1961 during a high school dance at Holy Name in West Roxbury he met the love of his life, Adrienne Cormier whom he would later marry at the age of 19 on January 9th 1965. Together they had three children and raised their family in Roslindale, MA. He was the neighborhood dad who often brought his kids and all their friends out for bowling, ice cream, trips to Wollaston beach, camping and the movies. One fond memory is when he took his kids and their friends to the haunted house at the Children's Museum in Jamacia Plain. By the end of the scary tour every kid was holding on to him for dear life as he tried to leave. As a dad he was like no other. He was constantly driving his kids to school, dance class, little league and karate. Always with a smile and his dry sense of humor.
He was a hard worker and often worked two jobs to provide for his family. His main career began when he started working for the post office. He started out as a clerk and worked his way up to manager of the Wellesley Hill Branch in the 1980's. He enjoyed working for the post office and was known in his family for his remarkable memory of all the zip codes in Massachusetts.
He moved with his family to southern NH in the late 1980's; living in Plaistow, Windham and then after his retirement Londonderry, Goffstown and Manchester.
He loved history, music, Sudoku and doing his daily crossword in the Union leader. One of his favorite things to do while coping with his illness was to sit on a park bench at Lake Massabesic or Rye Beach and look out at the water. He was a big Boston Sports fan. He loved to watch the Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots or Celtics and would discuss stats for hours with his son, Chris or his nephew, Freddie on the phone.
Most of all he loved his friends and family. He was the beloved father of Cynthia Richard and her husband Peter of Rochester, NH, Christopher Hession of Manchester, NH and Janine Hession of Epsom, NH. He leaves behind his sisters Lorraine Hession and Lillian Gordon both of Providence, RI. Sister in-laws Rosie Chase and her husband Mark of Shrewsbury, Michelle Cormier of Dover, NH, Jeannette Childers and her husband Russell of Norton, MA, Mary Cormier of Londonderry, NH and brother in-law James Duffy of Norwood, MA.
