Mae Tucker Stancill, 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Greenville, on Monday, January 26, 2026. A memorial service followed by a graveside committal will take place at Mount Pleasant Christian Church on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 11AM. A native of Pitt County, she was born on March 5, 1940, and raised on the Stancill family farm in the Rock Springs community west of Greenville. She devoted her entire professional career to being the head ophthalmic technician/office administrator for Pace Eye Clinic, in loyal service to Dr. Charles T. Pace. She was a lifelong member of Mount Pleasant Christian Church and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Known as "Tuck" to some and "Miss Mae" to others, she conducted herself with modesty, kindness, and generosity. She enjoyed spending time at Atlantic Beach and Myrtle Beach, travelling abroad, and contributing her time and resources to her church. Preceding her in death were her father, John R. Stancill; mother, Mary Tucker Stancill; sisters, Mattie Stancill Mims, and Dorothy Ann Stancill Foell; brother, John R. Stancill, Jr.; foster sister, Martha Paramore; nephew, Spencer Mims; and niece, Rose Pittman. She is survived by her brother, Ruel S. Stancill; sister, Sarah Stancill Glasgow; nephews, Rusty Foell, Jimmy Foell, Stephen Mims and Andrew Glasgow; nieces, Mary Helen Glasgow, and Debbie Poetzsch; and numerous great-nephews, great-nieces, and cousins. Her family and friends remain grateful to the caregivers and hospice professionals who attended to her over the last several months.
