Madelyn Irene Olson was born May 11, 1926 in Bureau County, Illinois to Herbert A. and Ruth C. (Johnson) Dremann. She passed away on December 5, 2020 at Mercy Walworth Hospital in Williams Bay, Wisconsin.
Madelyn grew up in rural Bureau County on the family farm, across the road from her future husband Verne Olson. They met at a young age, were engaged when she was 20 years old and married a year later on October 25, 1947. After graduating high school Madelyn attended the US Cadet Nursing Corps, then trained in Nursing at Copley Hospital, completing in 1947. Madelyn and Verne lived in Dixon, Aledo, Freeport, and Princeton, Illinois, working at Dixon Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, Freeport Memorial Hospital, and the Kelly Springfield Company.
Madelyn attended Cedarville Emmanuel Church. She was a Prayer Warrior, playing piano at church as well as teaching Sunday School for many years focusing on prophecy. She enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, singing, and playing the piano.
She is survived by her sons Randall (Christianne) Olson of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Steve (Belva) Olson of Fontana, WI; and Brian (Tammy) Olson of McFarland, WI; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and her brother Ivan (Lois) Dremann of Ohio, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Verne Olson, her son Edward Olson; and sister Mary F. (William) Richard.
A small family gathering took place at Toynton's Walworth Funeral Home with a private burial at Manlius Cemetery in Manlius, Illinois. The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Years Retirement Village of Walworth, WI.for their care and support for the past several years.
