Madeleine "Maddie" Harris Talkington, 31 passed away with grace from melanoma surrounded by family and friends on Dec 22, 2020. A summer solstice baby, Maddie was born in Springfield, VT in 1989 to parents Nancy Mullen and John Wesley Talkington. According to family lore, Maddie was so strong as a three year old that she was placed in the "big kids" ski group, and was seen later shredding down the mountain at Smuggler's Notch. Always the athlete, she attended Stratton Mountain School for cross country skiing and later joined the University of Utah team from 2007-2011. Being innately interested in helping others, she attended physical therapy school and graduated with a doctorate in 2020 from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. Though quiet by nature, her kindness always drew people in, and once you were in, she was an extremely devoted and loving friend. She was a spirited force with easy laugh and humble but mighty strength. Maddie loved to sing and be outside in nature, especially during snowstorms. She is survived by her parents Nancy and John of Weston VT, elder sister Nora, younger brother Dale, beloved partner Hayden Keisling of Page, AZ, and energetic rescue pup "Kai". She is predeceased by maternal grandparents Madeleine and James Mullen of Rockingham, VT and paternal grandparents Jack and Annabelle Talkington of Springfield, VT. A celebration of life service will be held on the summer solstice, 2021 in VT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Ability Center in Park City, UT (https://donorbox.org/snow-angels).
