Recke, Madalon Lanore (nee Wachtler), 85
Madalon was born to Michael and Madeline Wachtler on June 27, 1936 and grew up in NE Minneapolis with her older brother Michael. She was a proud alumni of the Academy of Holy Angels and St. Theresa's in Winona, MN. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend, teacher, and mentor. She is known for her kindness and generosity to her family and friends, her epic party throwing, her poem writing, and especially her wicked sense of humor. Her passion was teaching and chocolate chip cookies. Madalon and her late husband Wally Recke founded Golden Years Montessori in Edina, MN. Together, they developed a unique school philosophy that has touched so many lives and carries on her legacy to this day. Her loss is felt not only by her family, but by so many who knew and loved her.
Survived by husband Jack Sadler. Sons Jim and Rich (Terri). Grandchildren Nicole (Curtis), Tony (Nicole), Keri (Jake), Kristi (Kyle), Steven (Annie), and 10 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN! Stepdaughter Susan Sadler and step grandchildren Morgan (Kevin) Lusk, and Anna Lucking.
Preceded in death by beloved husband Wally Recke and infant son Steven.
Visitation Tuesday, May 31 from 4-7 p.m. at Washburn-McReavy, 5000 West 50th and Highway 100, Edina, MN 55436.
Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, June 1 at 10:30 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior at Pax Christi Catholic Church, 12100 Pioneer Trail, Eden Prairie, MN 55437.
Private burial at Fort Snelling, MN.
