Macklin Garrett, 86, of Montgomery, TX passed away Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Methodist Hospital in The Woodlands, TX.
Mack was born in Slaton, TX May 30, 1935 to Burt and Dollye Garrett. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Bill, sister Neamo, sister Doris, son Keith, and stepson Travis Carrothers. He is survived by wife Judith (Judi), sons Mark and Terry, stepson Troy Carrothers, and granddaughter Caroline Carrothers.
Mack started working in construction at an early age with his father and uncle in Lubbock, TX. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict on the U.S.S. Philippine Sea. Mack loved to tell his "Target" stories from his 20+ years of employment at Target Corporation. He was a problem solver who frequently took on difficult and seemingly unsolvable construction projects. Mack fondly remembered the friends he made at Target and at the numerous construction companies they frequently contracted.
Mack enjoyed creating artistic designs in assorted mediums, such as wood, metal, and macrame, and was an excellent cook. In his retirement, he and Judi enjoyed day trips on their Honda trike exploring Texas back roads and scenery.
Mack was much loved and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Services are pending.
