Mabel Dumas Crenshaw Goehe died at 93 years of age on Tuesday, May, 31, 2022, at Parkside Rehabilitation in Snellville, GA. She was born on March 12, 1929 in Clinton, Tennessee. She was the first of 4 children and was named after her mother. She graduated in 1946 from Stuart Hall High School in Virginia and UT in Knoxville in 1950.
She was predeceased by her parents, Archie Douglas Crenshaw and Mabel Dumas Crenshaw, her husband Edward O. Goehe, her brothers, Douglas Crenshaw and John Crenshaw, her sister Ann Blanton, a brother-in-law, Ronald Blanton, her sister-in-law Claudette Laws Crenshaw, and her son-in-law Dennis Hill.
Mabel met her husband Ed Goehe in Staunton, Illinois while student teaching. They were married on July 14, 1951 and had three children. Mabel taught science through the years in Rome, GA, Athens Junior High in Athens, TN, and at North Clayton Middle School in Georgia. Mabel was involved with the Atlanta Zoo as a docent, with Fernbank Science Center as a tour guide, and with Holy Trinity Episcopal Parish in Decatur as a Sunday School Teacher, lay reader, and volunteered as a visitor to the sick. Her great passions included family genealogy and talking with her family about her discoveries.
She is survived by three children Ed (Hye Yong), Ann (Bud), Louise, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law (Patti Crenshaw), and many nieces and nephews.
Mabel loved her church home, her volunteer work, playing bingo, playing bridge and spending time with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She spent the last two years at Parkside Rehabilitation. We would like to thank the staff for her loving care.
Mabel's memorial service was held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Parish in Decatur, GA on June 11, 2022 at 11am. A reception followed the service in the church fellowship hall.
