THE VILLAGES, FL - M. Kathleen "Casey" Craig died quietly at Falmouth Hospital on Thursday, September 19, 2019 after a brief illness surrounded by her husband of 42 years, Robert E. Craig, and her two children.
Born and raised in Buffalo, NY where she received her Masters degree in teaching and counseling, Casey was originally a history teacher but then, upon moving to Boston, began her career as a guidance counselor at Arlington High School. She moved to Falmouth in 1977 and joined the guidance department at Falmouth High School from which she retired after 27 years having advised countless students.
Casey enjoyed her retirement immensely, traveling extensively with her beloved husband and settling in The Villages, FL while still spending summers on the Cape with her grandchildren.
Casey was a people person who made friends wherever she went. She was a lifelong Catholic, an avid reader with her Cape Cod bookclub friends and enjoyed playing cards and games in The Villages. She and her husband were a long time foster home for dogs from Lab Rescue of New England from which they adopted their beloved dog Blue.
Casey was one of the world's best shoppers and prided herself on finding a great bargain, but what she cared about the most was providing generously for her family. Those she leaves behind will forever be grateful for the impact she had on our lives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Kenneth J. Craig of London England, her daughter Joanne Craig Marchesseault of South Windsor CT, her brother Kevin Carney of Slidell, LA and her five grandchildren: Carly A. Craig, John "Brodie" Craig, Kathryn J. Marchesseault, John "Jack" Marchesseault, Darby N.E. Craig.
Visiting hours will be held from 4-7pm on Sunday, September 22nd at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 584 West Falmouth Hwy (Route 28A), West Falmouth. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Monday, September 23rd at St. Anthony's Church, 167 E. Falmouth Hwy (Route 28), E. Falmouth. Burial will follow at 2:15pm at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
