M. Gene Reed, age 82, a lifelong resident of Seymour, Tennessee, passed away on, Tuesday, December 7, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank O. Reed and Molly Kate Clabough Free Reed; his brother Marion E. Reed; his wife of 55 years, Mary Lee Reed; and his infant son, Michael Gene Reed, with whom he shared a birthday. He is survived by his two daughters Rachel Reed and Lesa (Buddy) Fain, whose tender care and devotion to their father was exemplary; two grandchildren, Aaron James Fain and Emily (Eric) Kate Fain Lynch; and two great-grandchildren, Ellis Michael Lynch and Everlee Irene Lynch, who were the joy of his life in his later years. Gene was a member of Seymour First Baptist Church, Liberty Sunday School Class, a thirty-second degree Mason, past Worthy Patron of Chilhowee Chapter 450 Order of the Eastern Star, and a thirty year member of the Glaziers Local 1763 and the International brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps, based in Beaufort, South Carolina, Marine Corps Air Station, and served TAD aboard the USS Independence and two tours TAD at Guantanamo, Cuba. His last job after retirement was working for the Sevier County Election Commission preparing voting machines and assisting people with voting when needed, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. The family welcomes friends for a Visitation on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at Berry Highland South, from 2pm-4pm.
