Lynne Walker passed away on April 26th after lengthy battles with multiple life threatening and chronic illnesses. Lynne was preceded in death by her mother, Joanne Price Washburn and her stepfather, Vernon Washburn. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, William "Bill" Walker, sons, Bryan and Matthew Walker, grandson Austin Walker, plus sisters Jody Mertens and Sue Crawford, nephew Joe Crawford, plus additional nieces, nephews and cousins spread around the country. Lynne spent her adult working life caring for others. After graduating from Brandon High School in Brandon, Florida, she went to Mather School of Nursing in New Orleans, Louisiana. Upon return to Florida, Lynne continued her nursing career and married Bill, who upon college graduation, joined the U.S. Coast Guard. Lynne continued her nursing career as the family was stationed on the Gulf Coast and then the West Coast. She completed her nursing degree graduating Summa Cum Laude from William Carey University's School of Nursing in New Orleans. She ultimately specialized in Neurological, Orthopedic, and Rehabilitation nursing, plus Nursing Staff Development and Management. She was one of the first in the country to be nationally certified as a Rehabilitation Registered Nurse and as a Multiple Sclerosis Registered Nurse. Lynne retired at the Seattle Veterans Affairs Hospital where she helped open their Multiple Sclerosis Center of Excellence. Until limited by physical ailments, Lynne enjoyed traveling, both nationally and internationally, and family outdoor activities, including hiking and camping and visiting national parks. She was an avid reader and an excellent cook. She especially enjoyed her big dogs, having had predominantly Great Danes for over 45 years. Lynne was a spiritual person who for over 16 years was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Snohomish. The family would like to especially thank Daughter-in-Law Jennifer Walker, and the Providence Hospital, Everett and Providence Hospice & Home Care staffs for all their efforts in Lynne's last days. In Lieu of flowers, donations to Swedish Cancer Institute, Seattle, would be appreciated. A memorial service will be held at Bauer Funeral Chapel, Snohomish at 1 PM on May 15th, 2021.
