Lynn Vence Ozment, age 72, Ellijay, passed away suddenly Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at his Rome, Ga. residence. Mr. Ozment was born in Birmingham, Al on June 1, 1949, son of the late Buford Vence Ozment and the late Nannie Lee (Nan) Kelly Ozment. He was a graduate of the University of North Georgia. He and his wife Danette moved to Ellijay as a newly married couple and remained to teach and raise a family in the beautiful mountain town making lifelong friends. There he taught elementary education for 30 years. He was a member of the Beech Creek United Methodist Church. He played multiple string instruments singing with various groups at public events. His love of music was fostered by the many hours he and his father played together. He loved the outdoors, growing apples at one time, fishing, and many hours of cutting grass with his Uncle Floyd. He had a giving and compassionate spirit donating to many causes and the church. He gave of himself as demonstrated by the excellent care he provided both his father and mother during their extended illnesses . After retirement he spent many enjoyable hours with his wife, children, grandchildren and his uncle, Floyd.Survivors include his wife, Peggy Danette Ware Ozment to whom he married June 7, 1975 in Rome, Ga.; two sons, Brian Ozment, Ellijay; Justin Ozment (Amanda), Rome; grandchildren Austin Ozment (Amy) Newnan; Madison Ozment, Ellijay; Kalei Grace Ozment, Rome; Elliana Faith Ozment, Rome; Bethany Kate Ozment, Rome; great grandchildren Ryleigh Mae Ozment, Newnam; Corbin Daniel Ozment, Newnan; Jaxson Thomas Ozment, Newnan; two sisters, Wilma Lee Griffin, Land O Lakes, Fl.; Janice Hall, Eton; an uncle Floyd Ozment and aunt Geraldine Turner. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Beech Creek United Methodist Church, with Rev. Brian Butler officiating. A Graveside Service and interment will follow at the Flatbranch Baptist Church on Flatbranch Road, Ellijay at 2:30 p.m. The family will receive friends at the Beech Creek United Methodist Church, on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. The family request that mask be worn. The family requests memorials donations be made to the Beech Creek United Methodist Church. Good Shepherd Funeral Home has charge of the funeral arrangements
