Lynn Paul Coffman was born on August 20, 1923 in Lone Star, Montague County, Texas, and died on October 9, 2021 in Louisville, Kentucky. Paul is survived by his son Charles (wife Peggy Agee), daughter Barbra John (husband Jerry), grandson Kyle John, grandson Mark McWane, granddaughter Chamene Coffman, six great-grandchildren in Kentucky, Colorado and Texas. Paul is preceded in death by his wife Ruth, daughter Donna Sue, granddaughter Hope Coffman-Evans, grandson Dru McWane, his parents and grandparents. Paul was honorably discharged from the Army Air Corp after serving in World War II. His service included modifications and assembly work on the first atomic bombs.
After military service he worked in El Paso, Texas, for several years and then moved to Oklahoma, where he worked for the local John Deere dealer for about 3 years. After John Deere, he went into full time preaching at the Church of Christ in Caddo, Oklahoma. In 1956, he moved to Oluskee, Oklahoma where he preached for the local Church of Christ. In 1957, he moved to Cortez, Colorado, to preach for the local Church of Christ and then in 1960 moved to Lubbock, Texas, to preach for the Colgate Congregation of the Church of Christ. In 1964 he moved to York, Pennsylvania, to preach for the local Church of Christ and then on to Hyattville, Maryland, for over 20 years preaching at the University Park Church of Christ. After retiring from full time preaching, he moved to Edmond, Oklahoma, and worked part time as a counselor for the Edmond Church of Christ. In the late 1990s he moved to Lubbock to be closer to family. His wife Ruth died in 2017, in Lubbock at the age of 96. Paul's last couple of years were spent with his grandson Mark and his family in Louisville, Kentucky.
A private graveside service for the family will be held. An open Memorial Service will be held at the South Plains Church of Christ in Lubbock, on October 22, 2021 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Lubbock Meals On Wheels, South Plains Food Bank or other charitable organization of your choice.
