Lyle R. Ressler, 73, of Southington and formerly of Deep River passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Bristol Hospital. Lyle was born on July 31, 1951 in Hartford to the late Robert E. and Jean (Marsden) Ressler. He graduated from Valley Regional High School in Deep River, Class of 1969 and went on to CCSU where he earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Lyle worked as a business manager for the State of Connecticut, retiring after over 30 years of service. Lyle's love of music and theatre started at a young age. He played piano for most of his life and was a member of the Deep River Junior Fife and Drum Corps. In his later years, Lyle was a member of the Bristol Chorale and participated in plays at the Thomaston Opera House and the Warner Theatre. He also spent many years volunteering at the Thomaston Opera House Box Office. Lyle enjoyed his part-time job at Macy's and loved to travel, cruise with his friends from the Bristol Chorale and on many occasions, traveling to NYC to see Broadway shows. He also enjoyed the beach and looked forward to his annual vacation in Old Lyme with family and friends, a tradition that started in his childhood. Lyle will be remembered for being kind, generous and a wonderful friend to so many. He is survived by two brothers, R. Thomas Ressler and his wife Del of Olathe, KS and Jon W. Ressler and Nanette Bergamo of Smyrna, TN and 2 nephews, Ryan Ressler and wife Amanda and their children, Emmett and Thatcher and Jeremy Ressler and wife Liz and their children, Josie and Maddox. He also leaves behind his dearest friends, Andy and Marcia Silva of Southington and their two daughters, Alison (Justin) and Andrea (Sean), who lovingly referred to him as "Unc". A funeral service will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Calling hours will be held before the service from 9 - 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery, Southington.
