Lyle George Peterson, 84, of Northville, SD passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Community Memorial Hospital Avera in Redfield, SD. His memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 19, 2021, at the Northwestern United Methodist Church in Mellette, SD. Inurnment, with Military Honors and Masonic Rites, will follow at the Northville Fairview Cemetery in Northville. Pastor Doug Duncan will officiate.
The family requests masks and social distancing. For those unable to wear or are uncomfortable with masks, as well as those unable to attend in person, the funeral service will be live-streamed to the funeral home's website (www.hykefuneralhome.com). Hyke Funeral Home of Redfield, SD has been entrusted with arrangements.
On August 13, 1936, Lyle George Peterson was born in Aberdeen, SD to George and Evelyn (Shantz) Peterson. He grew up on a farm near Northville, SD, and graduated high school in Northville in 1954. Lyle married Donna Bradke in Fredrick, SD at the Savo Lutheran Church on June 21, 1968.
Lyle proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves and was a lifelong farmer near Northville. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren in sports and other activities. Hunting and fishing were favorite pastimes. Lyle was a member of Northwestern United Methodist Church, served on both the Tri-Parish Board and the Northville Fairview Cemetery Association, and was a township supervisor for Northville Township.
Grateful for sharing his life are his wife Donna Peterson; son James (Melissa) Peterson; and daughter Diane (David) Watson; all of Northville. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Austin Peterson, Darien Watson, Danielle Watson, and Kyle Peterson; sister-in-law Gloria Peterson; and nephews: David (Sherilyn) Peterson and Dan (Sara) Peterson and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Lela Schrandt Peterson, and brother Donald Peterson.
