Lydia Merrill of Oxnard, CA, 77, died of natural causes on February 13, 2021.
She was born on July 7th, 1943 to Primo and Delphina Alviso in San Jose, California. She has two sisters, Antonia, her husband, Alex Gomez, Delores, her husband, Keith Wall, one Brother, Joe, and his wife, Jackie Alviso. Lydia and her siblings were raised in Tulare, California.
In 1960, she married Rufus Lopez, they had three children Barbara Lopez, Paul Lopez and Eddie Lopez, all of Tulare, California. She is preceded in death by her son Eddie and her husband Richard Merrill, married in 1978 of Oxnard, California. Richard and Lilly welcomed all family members into their home to visit and stay to enjoy the beautiful weather and nearby beaches. Lydia loved family visits and enjoyed a good laugh about daily life and memories. Lydia had a very close bond with her grandchildren Mona Lopez, Rachel, her husband Michael Scotti, Irene Duran, Eddie Duran, Christina Duran and many more grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she all cherished. She also had several nieces and nephews, she enjoyed talking, visiting, and seeing beautiful pictures of their families. She is preceded in death by her wonderful niece Lydia Alviso, her namesake. She opened up her home to a neighborhood friend who helped her with keeping up the yard work and home maintenance. Eli Montelongo took very good care of Lydia in her final years in doing so he became a member of the family. Eli is a blessing, and the family is grateful for all he has done.
Due to COVID-19 guidelines, Visitation is limited capacity from 4:00pm to 6:30pm on Sunday, March 7, 2021 with a rosary to begin at 7:00pm at the Garcia Mortuary Chapel, 629 South A Street in Oxnard. If attending, please observe current COVID-19 regulations - masks must be worn, and social distancing guidelines will be observed. The family will have her a celebration of life luncheon on Sunday, March 7th, 2021 at the Merrill residence followed by her funeral services.
