"Beth" at 92 years old completed her journey through life on February 7, 2024, at 4:20 am, she is now with our Lord and Savior. She was born on Friday, September 11, 1931, to the late Harold Wade and Lyda Pearl (Raybon) Roome. In her early adulthood she trained to be a nurse at the Mauritz Hospital, which was the first hospital in Jackson County located in Ganado, Texas. There she met her husband James Mitchell "Red" Martin while her friends and his hung out around the town Post Office. They fell in love shortly after their first date on September 11, 1950, and were married on October 31, 1950. Their love was a whirlwind romance. They shared the same interests. When they were quiet, their minds were still thinking about the same things. Out of this Union of Love they were blessed with two sons, James Harold and Ronald Mitchell Martin. These two lovebirds enjoyed each other's company in everything they did together. After 30 years of marriage together, James "Red" passed away due to cancer in 1981. Several years later, after the death of her husband, Beth lost her first-born son, James Harold.
Beth and her son Ronnie enjoyed many years traveling to various states and seeing performances in Nashville, Tennessee, Grand Ole Opry shows in Branson, Missouri several times over a course of a few years. Beth loved to travel with her son Ronnie, they were great traveling buddies. She loved her little Chihuahua, Mendy. Mendy went everywhere with Mom, eating out at restaurants, shopping, visiting people, where Mom was, Mendy was right there beside her. Mendy was her favorite companion. Mendy even acted like an electric blanket when Mom laid on the couch. Mendy and Mom were inseparable.
Beth had a saying to which she repeated, "you can call me a tomboy, but don't ever call me a sissy", those were fighting words. Mom made the best German Chocolate cake from scratch; Ronnie will surely miss that. Beth may have been of small stature, but she was a strong and fierce woman of Our Lord and Savior.
Beth is survived by her youngest son, Ronald "Ronnie" Mitchell Martin, Mendy, her favorite companion, Walter "Sandy", and Pamela Kay Raybon, she loved these two like they were her own children.
A special Thank-You to Walter "Sandy" and Pamela Kay Raybon, for always being there. They loved Mom as much as she loved them.
