Luz Lozano Merrill, 84, of Oxnard, CA passed away on May 1, 2021 with her family by her side.
Luz now joins her husband Gilbert Merrill, of 53 years, as they have entered eternal rest.
She was born to the late Esteban and Rosa Lozano on March 4, 1937, in Jamay, Jalisco, Mexico. She was a resident of Oxnard for over 60 years.
Luz loved spending time in her home where she enjoyed gathering her family while preparing delicious meals. She loved to cook and entertain. She always had a meal ready no matter the time of day. She loved to travel, garden and enjoyed listening to music. She also had a passion for crocheting and in recent years made sure to make blankets for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Luz is survived by her son, John Merrill and wife Lydia of Oxnard; daughters, Marizza Lopez and husband Mitchell Crespi of Camarillo, Martha Potts and husband Duke of Camarillo; grandchildren, Myda Merrill of Oxnard, Monica Merrill of Oxnard, Andrea Atilano and husband Luis of Chandler, AZ, Natalie Lopez Barton and husband Mike of Compton, CA, Andrew Marquez and wife Tanya of Oxnard, and Ariana Merrill of Camarillo; 17 Great Grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and many nephews and nieces.
She is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Alexis Lopez and son-in-law, Richie Lopez. Also preceded in death by brothers, Ramon Gonzalez, Salvador Gonzalez, Jose Gonzalez and sister, Juana Lozano.
Luz dedicated her life to her family and her life will forever be cherished in our hearts.
Private viewing and rosary for immediate family only is scheduled on Thursday, May 27, 2021.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of our beloved Mother, Grandma and Nana will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., at Santa Clara Church, 323 South E Street, Oxnard, CA. Due to COVID-19 guidelines a reservation is required to attend the funeral service, please register at santaclaraparish.org. Interment to immediately follow at Santa Clara Cemetery, 2370 North H Street, Oxnard, CA.
