Ludwik Malec, 94, of New Britain passed away on December 20, 2020 at Amber Woods of Farmington. Ludwik was born on July 25, 1926 in a small village in Poland. He was one of seven children to Jan and Anna Malec. Ludwik needed to go to an orphanage at the age of 10 after his mother passed away and his father joined the Polish National Guard for the second World War. Later, Ludwik joined the Polish Army and Allied Forces to fight against the Nazis. After the war, he lived in England for five years and was trained as a tool and die maker. He immigrated to the United States and became a citizen when he was 25 years old. Mr. Malec had a long career at Stanley Works, New Britain until his retirement at the age of 72. In 1990, Ludwik joined his wife Kazmiera in becoming a Jehovah Witness and they served the New Britain English and Polish congregation. Ludwik is survived by his children, Patricia (Larry) Jahn, Richard Malec, and Raymond (Marsha) Malec. He also leaves his grandchildren, Jonathan Jahn and Rachel Malec. Ludwik was predeceased by his former wife and mother of his children, Rose Marie Malec and his second wife Kazimiera Malec, who passed away in January 2020. The Malec family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Amber Woods of Farmington and the Hartford HealthCare at Home Hospice Team for the compassionate care they provided for Mr. Malec. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to the Veterans Affairs of Newington and West Haven for their supportive care over the past several years.
