Lucyanne Ellsworth Nolan, 88, entered into rest on January 31, 2024.
Lucyanne was born to the late Francis and Anne Ellsworth in Windber, PA. After moving to Ithaca, NY when she was very young, she spent many summers and visits throughout her life visiting her many aunts, uncles and cousins in Pennsylvania. Her primary home remained in Ithaca through her grade school and high school. In 1957, she earned a Bachelors of Science in Nursing at Alfred University. During this time she met her first husband, Donald Lueder Sr., the father of her four children. They started their family in Ithaca then moved to Charlotte, NC. The two maintained a caring friendship throughout her life.
In 1977, Lucyanne bravely moved herself and four children to Augusta, GA where she completed her Masters of Science in Nursing at the Medical College of Georgia with a 4.0! During that time she also worked the night shift as an operating room nurse. Having completed her second degree, Lucyanne began working at the VA Hospital of Augusta where she spent most of her career as a nurse educator until retirement. In late 1979 she met Dr. William Nolan, her beloved husband of 44 years.
After retirement, she spent 11 summers working as the camp nurse at Camp Green Cove in Tuxedo, NC. "Nurse Nolan" also spent 10 years as the first Director of Nursing for her son's home care business. Caring for others played a huge role in her life and she adored her family. Lucyanne was quick to make new friends and never met a stranger. She loved opera, travel, and dancing. Her bright personality and laugh filled any room. Though she is no longer with us, the care and help she gave to so many lives on. She will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Lucyanne laid to rest two of her sons, Donald Charles Jr. and Daniel Edward Lueder. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, William "Bill" Nolan; children, Judith Anne Lueder (Tim Martello), Douglas Allan Lueder (Marlena Exposito), and Jennifer Nolan; brother, Dennis Ellsworth (Susan); niece Jennifer Ellsworth Mattison; grandchildren, Frank Kecseti (Alyson Long), Phalichia Lueder and Cameron Lueder, Harrison Daniel Lueder and Layla Sinclair Lueder; grandniece Cassidy Mattison.
Lucyanne's celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024 at the Columbia Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home. Viewing will be at 5:00pm with services to follow at 6:00pm in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
