Lucy May Bancroft, 83 of Palm City, FL, formerly of South Glastonbury, CT passed away on April 24, 2022. She was under the care of Treasure Coast Hospice at her home surrounded by her husband of 65 years, Edward Lewis, and family.
Lucy was a friend to everyone. She had an infectious smile that would light up a room. She was a very sincere and caring woman, a rare find, who captured the hearts of many. She was most passionate and proud about her family as they were the center of her world.
Lucy was a lifelong learner and educator. She always joked that she spent more time in the classroom going to school than she did working as a special education teacher. She loved the classroom and her students.
Lucy also took pride in the 10 years she volunteered for Treasure Coast Hospice. She loved her personal visitations and loved helping families through difficult times. She was a very spiritual woman and truly believed in the celebration of walking the stairs to Heaven's Gate.
Lucy is survived by her husband, Edward, and their children Janice Mills (J. Paul), Wendy Burkholder, and her much loved grandchildren: Blake, Carson, Elise, Peyton, and Tori.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Food for the Poor (foodforthepoor.org).
