
Lucille "Cookie" Jeanette Duquette Monteiro
Mother, Sister, Grandmother and friend.
Lucille “Cookie” Jeanette Montiero (Duquette) was born on February 20th, 1940 in Somerset, Massachusetts to Louis J. Duquette and Lorraine Duquette (Duperre). The youngest of 4 children, she leaves behind sisters Lois ”Bunny” Chodkowski, Anita Rousseau-Griffin and brother, Richard Duquette. She was the mother of 4 children : Robert Duquette, Robin Moniz, Lori Jones and the late Robert Monteiro Jr. Lucille leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren spreading across the United States.
Lucille’s biggest love in her life were her parents. She adored her hard working father and all he provided for his family. She was his “Cookie”. Her mother, also a very strong woman helped raise the family from hard times.
In her young life at the age of 14 years old, she met Robert A. Monteiro who later became the father of her children. She lived a military life with him and their children moving to places such as California and Washington. Through life’s ups and downs she held on to her love for him. Later on she began her nursing career and loved helping others.
In her later life she enjoyed her time living in various states, watching The Food Network and Travel Channel, catching baseball games and trying new foods. Her favorite place to be was spending time with her dog, Ernie.
Lucille can be most remembered by her fiery personality, determination and genuine love for her family. She devoted time to her faith and love of the Catholic Church. She always donated to good causes and kept the less fortunate in her heart.
She passed away on April 30th, 2018 in New Bern, North Carolina surrounded by her loved ones.
She will always be loved and deeply missed.
