Mrs. Lucille "Luci" Bruther Jackson, age 92, of Lexington, Indiana, entered this life on February 15, 1929, in Jefferson County, Indiana. She was the fourth daughter of Gordon W. Bruther and Eva Mae Means Bruther, both of whom preceded her in death. On Pearl Harbor Day, when Luci was just 12, she and her six siblings, ages 3 to 15, lost their loving mother unexpectedly. Though just a child herself, Luci stepped in and helped raise her siblings. On March 15, 1947, she was united in marriage to Millis L. Jackson, a Saluda boy. This happy union of fifty-one years was blessed with a son, Jerry Lynn and a daughter, Teri Marie. Luci was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and a farmer's wife, being a partner in Jackson Brothers Farms. Over the years, many farmhands enjoyed elaborate homecooked meals at her table and came to love her as a second mother. Luci was seen as a beautiful and elegant lady by all who knew her, always aware of the latest fashion and wearing beautiful jewelry and clothing. She particularly enjoyed trendy shoes. Luci's children and their families lived nearby on the family farm their whole lives, bringing her much joy. In July 1986, she suffered the tragic loss of her oldest granddaughter, Rachel Lynn Jackson, whose memory she cherished every day for the rest of her life. "Mammaw Luci" was so beloved to her family that two of her great granddaughters bear her name. In her golden years, Luci enjoyed the companionship of her lifelong friend, Norman Wiggam, who died in March 2018. After being cared for by her loving family for nearly four months at home on the family farm where she lived more than 70 years, Luci died at peace the morning of Wednesday, March 31, 2021. Luci will be missed by her loving son, Jerry Lynn Jackson and his wife, Marilyn Jane, of Hanover; her loving daughter, Teri Marie Kleopfer and her husband, Steven Gale, of Lexington; her loving brothers, Delbert H. Bruther and his wife, Delores, of Hanover, and Woodrow Bruther and his companion, Phyllis Sauley, of Madison; her loving granddaughters, Amber Kleopfer Senseny and her husband, Robert Matthew, of Indianapolis; Kirstie Lane Craven and her husband, Eric Michael, of Taylor Mill, Kentucky; Heather Nicole Ade and her husband, Jake, of Frisco, Texas and her loving grandson, Clayton Andrew Jackson and his wife, Katie Leigh, of Denver, Colorado. Her memory will be cherished by her seven beloved great-grandchildren: Skylar Bea Senseny, Henry Mitchell Senseny, Steven Etzler Senseny, Lucille Sara Craven, Elle Lucille Ade, Max Sylvia Ade and Alexander Michael Craven. She will also be remembered by her brother in law, Burlyn Jackson, of Madison, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Luci was preceded in death by her father, Gordon Bruther, in 1984; her mother, Eva Mae Means Bruther, in 1941; her stepmother Elma Lowe Bruther, in 1995; her sisters Emily Lou Mundt in 1948, Marjorie "Margie" I. Vestal in 2003 and Waneta Ella Clark in 2019; and her brother William "Bill" G. Bruther in 2020; her granddaughter Rachel Lynn Jackson in 1986 and her husband, Millis "Lindy" Jackson in 1998.
