Lucile Caroline Stevens, 85, former Shelby County resident, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020
at Heritage House in Greensburg.
Born December 8, 1935 in Decatur County, she was the daughter of Orville Wessel and Luella
(Koester) Wessel. She married Glen D. Stevens on April 18, 1954 and he preceded her on
February 19, 2010.
Survivors include 6 children- Christine Walker (husband John) of Waldron, Jeffrey Stevens (wife
Trisha) of Waldron, Pamela Thomas (husband James) of St. Paul, Dwight Stevens (wife Kimberly)
of Manilla, Penny Hensley of Waldron, Aaron Stevens (fiance Jeannie Sheppard) of St. Paul;
a brother Earl Wessel (wife Karlyn) of Oregon; 19 grandchildren, and 36 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, a brother Donald Wessel, and a sister
Helen Maloney.
Mrs. Stevens was a lifelong resident of this area, and graduated from Milroy High School in 1953.
She was a home maker and a long time member of Moscow Christian Church. She was also a
member of Shelby Homemaker's Club & the Liberty-ettes Homemaker's Club for over 50 years,
a 4 H leader of the Liberty Swinging Cloverleafs, and a past member of Waldron Order of the
Eastern Star.
Lucile and her husband traveled to Haiti several times to help with Missionary work. She enjoyed
gardening, teaching Sunday School nursery class, knitting, ceramics, making pillows for Major
Hospital, baking, making noodles, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Due to Covid19 restrictions, private funeral services will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021 at Moscow
Christian Church with Rev. Bruce Tierce officiating. Burial will be in Moscow Cemetery.
