Lowell 'Gene' Noel, age 66 passed away Wednesday morning, February 17, 2021 at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Martinsville.
Gene was born March 9, 1954, in Morgan County and graduated from Indian Creek High School in 1972. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan in 1992.
Gene married Linda Lou (Hendershot) on July 13, 1974 in Nashville and together they raised four children. She preceded him in death on April 10, 2018 after 43 loving years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his mother, Harriett Ann (Williams) Noel and a brother, Victor Noel.
Gene was retired from being self-employed and worked various jobs throughout his life. In 2007, he was one of the founding members of the Gateway Chapel Holiness Church in Martinsville. Lowell enjoyed working in his saw mill, tending to his vegetable gardens and working jigsaw puzzles. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Gene was an avid reader of the Bible, fiction and non-fiction books and enjoyed caring for his cat, Munchkin.
Gene will be missed by his children: Lynda 'Michelle' Noel of Brown County, Jason (Rachael) Noel of Mooresville, Ryan Bruce (Fortuna) Noel of Indianapolis and Tricia (Bailey) McCammon of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Henry & Jasper Noel, Brad & Ashley Wick, Zaiden Davis, Gabriel Ladda and Adrian Wright; and sister, Sheila (Bruce) Stephens of South Dakota.
The Rev. Greg Cragen will conduct a funeral service on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Those attending with underlying health conditions and Covid concerns are encouraged to visit from 4 to 5 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Gene will be laid to rest by his wife at Mt. Nebo Cemetery in Martinsville. All guests attending visitation and/or services will be required to wear a mask at all times in an effort to promote a safe environment.
Memorial contributions may be sent in honor of Gene to the Gateway Chapel Holiness Church, 470 N. Marion St. Martinsville, IN 46151.
