Louise Zivic Egler, 85, of Grayson, Georgia was called home to the Lord on June 28, 2024, after being hospitalized with a respiratory illness.
Louise was born on December 2, 1938, to Frank and Rosalia Zivic in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She attended St. Nicholas North Side Grade School and St. Benedict's Academy in Pittsburgh. She spent her career as an employee of the Calgon/Merck Corporation. She married her husband, Colonel James Egler, in 1980 and several years later they made their move to Milton, Florida, where they enjoyed the Gulf Beaches and nearby military base life. While in Milton, Louise volunteered at the Santa Rosa Medical Center and was very active in many ministries at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. In 2019, Louise moved to a Senior Living Facility in Georgia.
Sewing, crocheting and baking were at the top of the list of talents Louise possessed. She loved creating exquisite clothes, blankets and culinary treats to bestow upon her family and friends. She also loved playing cards with the girls, entertaining at home and traveling abroad. Louise treasured her beloved dog, Loja, her constant companion and source of much joy.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Rosalia and Frank Zivic; her brother, Richard F. Zivic and wife, Rosemarie; her brother, Donald Zivic and wife, Catherine and her nephew, Richard A. Zivic.
Louise is survived by her stepsons, James (Beth) Egler, Jr., Jerry (Vicki) Egler, their children and grandchildren. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, David (Patricia) Zivic, Ronald (Judi) Zivic, Kathleen Carmel, Donna Zivic, Pamela (Everett) Washburn, Alan Zivic, Rosanne Zivic, Kenneth (Terri) Zivic, Gregory (Michelle) Zivic, and Michele (David) Freeman. In addition, 21 great-nieces and nephews and 31 great-great-nieces and nephews called her Aunt Louise.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 6451 Park Avenue, Milton, Florida 32570 with visitation from 10:00-11:00am and Mass at 11:00am celebrated by Monsignor Michael V. Reed. A Committal Service will be held Monday, July 22, 2024, at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola, Florida 32508 at 2:00pm where Louise will be reunited once again with her beloved husband, Jim. The procession will meet at 1:30pm at Olive Baptist Church- Warrington Campus, 103 West Winthrop Avenue, Pensacola, Florida 32507.
