Louise Carla (Towne) Laveck Pelkey 1936 - 2021
Louise, affectionately known as "Buzzy" passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 3 after a brief illness. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family. She will be greatly missed.
Louise was born in Methuen, MA on March 6, the daughter of the late Charles and Thelma (Benway) Towne. Louise graduated from Methuen High in 1954. After graduation she spent several years in Lawrence, MA. She moved to Easthampton in 1968, where she settled for the remainder of her time. Louise was predeceased by first husband, Richard K. Laveck, daughter Cheryl L. Laveck, son Richard K. Laveck, Jr. and her siblings Caroline, Robert, Charles, Helen and Jeanne. She is survived by husband Charles G. Pelkey, brother Howard (Butch) Towne and his wife Carol and brother Theodore Towne and his wife Evelyn. She also leaves behind her devoted children David Laveck, Marianna Cooper-Drew, Lydia Lakota, Londa Laveck, Marjorie Nadeau, Charles Laveck, Angela Redfern, Timothy Laveck, Rachael Laveck, Alexis Laveck, Joshua Laveck and William Laveck as well as twenty-seven loving grandchildren, sixteen adoring great-grandchildren, and many, many nieces and nephews.
Louise dedicated her life to children, beginning her foster parenting career in her early twenties. She raised and/or fostered over 400 children, many of whom still call her Mom. While nurturing all those children she developed a knack for cooking for large groups. She honed her culinary craft working outside the home, cooking for several different organizations. Louise had a terrific sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. She was an active member of her church. Louise enjoyed gospel music, travelling, dancing and especially loved her dogs.
